TAP Consulting, was commissioned by the Walker Robina Pty Ltd to undertake a Social and Health Impact Assessment (SHIA) for the proposed Breakwater Robina master planned community located on Highfield Drive, Robina. The SHIA provides an overview of the social and health impacts (positive and negative) associated with the proposed development.

The proposed Breakwater master plan will incorporate new connections linking the existing Robina and Merrimac communities with the Robina railway station, Robina Town Centre, Robina Hospital and a range of other urban facilities and services in the area. It is designed to accommodate approximately 2,000 new apartments and townhouses and 1,000sqm of mixed use centre. Open space recreation opportunities and community facilities will be provided to support the new community.

This study seeks to identify the range of potential social impacts (positive and negative), arising from the implementation of the proposed Breakwater Robina mixed-use development. The study therefore broadly aims to:

- Identify the social and health issues and potential impacts relevant to the changes that will occur as a result of the proposed development;

- Anticipate and assess impacts on the service system and the quality of life of local residents; and

- Identify a range of enhancement and mitigation measures to lesson negative impacts.
